Devlog #000 Cinematic
Let’s talk about the cinematics.
In general, when there’s a cinematic, the game pauses for every player. I know a very few games, if none other than Baldur’s Gate 3 that doesn’t do that. When a player gets into a conversation with a character or a cutscene, the game doesn’t stop. The other players can walk around, fight and talks with other characters and most importantly, troll in a player’ scripted scene background. I would strip my character naked and walk into my brother’s cutscene.
I freakin love it lel.
So you can do all that in my video game \o/
Now behold, my video game’s cinematic editor. It is intended to be a dev exclusive tool to create cutscenes but I’m thinking, wouldn’t it be great if the player could create his own cinematics for his own character?
So I’m not making it dev exclusive. (yaay) Another player can trigger your character events and listen to your OC story or whatever.
I’m glad I got that done and see that it works pretty well. It’s a big chunk of my project *pheew*.
Now my next task is to work on the visuals. As you can see, it’s all glitchy and stings the eyes (sorry).
Stay safe until next time 👋
